Documents Required for Insurance

When purchasing an insurance under your personal name, make sure you have the following documents ready scanned or ready on your computer so that you can upload them when requested or send them across when finalizing your policy. Sometimes different insurance providers have different requirements, but most of the time the documents are pretty much the same.

Emirates ID – Both back and front of your Emirates ID will be required. Most insurance companies these days will ask for this ID to be uploaded on the insurance portals systems.

Mulkiya or Registration card – This card is the identity of your car. It will have all the details about your car including the Engine/Chassis number, license plate and Traffic File number and details about yourself. This is mandatory for any insurance policy to be issued.

Driving License – At all times you should carry your driving license with you whether you are purchasing a motor policy or not. The Driving License will state the number of years experience you have driving in the UAE along with other details about yourself. This again is mandatory to have the back and the front of it handy in your phone/computer.

Passport/Visa – The passport and visa page is not essential and most insurance companies will not ask for it. However is some cases they may require it to be uploaded into the system. Again, would be better to keep it handy just in case.

No Claim Discount – Also known as NCD, is a document that your previous insurance provider can provide you which can entitle you to discounts upto 20%. If you are planning on changing your insurance provider, it would be advisable to take a NCD from the previous insurance company mentioning that you didn’t have any accidents last year, or year before. All insurance companies are looking for safe drivers, and if you have a good clean record then why not avail the claim. Some insurance companies will accept a self declaration and you will be able to avail a discount.

Passing Paper – Incase your  current insurance is expired, you will have to provide a Passing Paper from any of the Vehicle Testing Centers authorized from RTA. The validity of these passing paper is only 1 month, so please keep in mind the expiry date
